Long blogs.. just like long dresses and quite opposite to long legs.. are a turn off... and I respect you even if you just "checked" out my blog.(..waise if you had clicked on the link only because of long legs in the title there is no point in reading further..)

I know what you are thinking but let me assure you that the theme of this article is not global warming or the energy crisis. The one thing four years of Engineering Teaches you is to model every situation in the world as some standard engineering modal and then use it to predict results.. This is astonishingly fast in it's prediction but the trade off sometimes lands you with blunderous(if that is a word) results. :)

Though trying not to take analogies to far this time I would like to put some light on, with a hope that my observation ("by putting light") would not change the outcome, the subject of multitasking by us(the humans..), our successes and failures. In the middle of my third year of Undergraduate Studies I became obsessed with doing more, it was my solution to all the world problems - a world where everyone gives an extra human efforts in their endeavors. So, heeding to the advice of Gandhi I tried become the change I wanted to see in the world only to realize why Management is such a hyped subject in today's time and why do I meet more mangers than I meet creators.

So, in order to reason my failure and in an attempt to put all the blame on the specifications of the world we live in I came up with a very interesting line of argument - the finite energy phenomenon. Though most of us vary in our characteristics we all have limits to the amount of physical work we can do in a finite window of time, so is there a finite window of amount of intellectual work we can do in such a window, so in a way we are like any other electric/mechanical system doing finite task in finite time. (Please don't argue that the universe is continuous and that even that the small amount of work has huge repercussions which when all taken into account would diverge and we would not have a finite amount).

Barring the above strange argument, we have till now established the similarity in doing tasks between us and machines. Though i wanted this blog to be general.. but it from now it would turn out to be hebrew crap if you are not an electrical engineer, so you can go and do situps in your room thinking that no one is looking at you, and try to reduce your waist, or abdomen. or whatever is it you are trying to reduce or extend.

Else
Barring the above strange argument, we have till now established the similarity in doing tasks between us and machines.So we can be represented as a system... remember a box having an Input and an Output. (I still wonder how can people write so many theories on a box... and here I am using the box...) So, in order to keep the discussion general we know for sure.. that we are Non-linear, Time Variant systems(..there was a time when even salman khan did acting..), though Causal ones (.. now even a few electrical engineers would need wikipedia..).

Now if aliens capture us.. do many experiments over or lifetime and take the fourier transform of such a system(..us), they would easily say... hey these human things are high pass filters.. (and those group of aliens would publish a paper and then take a job at a university where they would honk at junior aliens about the original research they did...). But even as boasting those aliens would be they are right in the argument that we are nothing but high pass filters. And now those ones of you who cannot sit quiet in classes and ask the most obvious question.. would say.. this is obvious as an all pass filter would require infinite energy and now would look here and there smartly only to realise that you are alone.. and may be a lonar as you are still reading on this one. (or that I am such a fantastic writer..)

Seriously why high pass filters? Because we are able to do things which move at a fast pace but we rarely are able to complete slow projects. The changing nature of our mind and enviroment make it difficult the projects having higher time constants to reach completion.

Thus, any day if you are not able to study, work, eat, mate, drink, kill.. all together.. don't panic.. it's just the finite energy.. and if any of your plans are maturing very slowly then according to my theory you could be more lucky trying to do fishing in a water cooler that banking on the maturity of your plan.

Finally, I couldn't end the blog as i wanted.. see that's the problem.. sometimes.. when I write too much.. all thoughts get intermingled.. and I forget what's the point.. So remember children/oldmen.. etc never ask whats the point.
